Memory Screening Camp at Mother’s Old Age home
Members from ARDSI, Guwahati Chapter organised a memory screening camp for residents of Mother’s Old Age Home on 25th November,2017. After receiving a warm welcome from all the residents, the Aita’s and Koka’s , we spent some time with all of them chatting and singing while some shared about their ailments. Few of our members started with the screening while others were engaged in interesting conversations with the residents. We used Mini Mental State Examination to assess cognitive impairment and a marked level of impairment was found in a couple of residents from the home. We suggested certain ways for management of the behavioural symptoms to the caregivers as they shared the challenges they face every day in handling such elderly which clearly indicates the huge need for proper residential facilities for elders with dementia. On behalf of ARDSI, we also distributed essentials commodities like blankets , eatables ,basic medicines etc. Their zest towards life and cordiality

2016 in dementia research – the good, the disappointing and the unusual
When a new year begins, it is common for people to reflect on the past 12 months and think about what is to come. The Research and Development team at Alzheimer’s Society are no exception, especially as 2016 was a very interesting year for dementia research. The news about dementia was continually fluctuating: one minute we heard the news that the number of people living with dementia was falling in both the US and the UK, and the next we heard that dementia is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales. The same applies to the mixture of promising and disappointing results that came out of clinical trials this year. Source::
